The City of London Corporation is recruiting for External Members to sit on its Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Subcommittee. The Subcommittee, which links directly to the Department of Community and Children’s Services Committee, oversees the City of London’s important work in combatting Homelessness and Rough Sleeping in the Square Mile.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for working on behalf of vulnerable groups to use their life experience, professional expertise and personal commitment to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to ending Rough Sleeping for good.
As an External Member of the Subcommittee, you will join elected Members, City of London Officers and other relevant stakeholders in developing strategic responses to homelessness. You will contribute to the oversight of approaches adopted by the City of London and use your experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to help the Subcommittee translate the policy landscape into measured and impactful interventions.
The Subcommittee values professional and lived experience relevant to the prevention and relief of homelessness. Applications are particularly welcome from those who have personal experience of, or a professional background, in homelessness, addiction, physical health and mental health.
The successful candidate will be required to commit to the following:
- Attend four Subcommittee meetings per year.
- Note that appointments are for a term of up to three years (two two-year terms and one three-year term).

The Recruiting Panel will consist of the Chairs and Deputy Chairs of Community and Children’s Services Committee and Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Subcommittee (or their representatives) along with a maximum of two officers appointed by the Executive Director, Community and Children's Services. The recruiting Panel plans to refer their recommended candidate to the Department of Community and Children’s Services Committee, which will ultimately have the final decision on any appointment. Successful applicants will be expected to begin attending meetings of relevant Subcommittees from 9 September 2024.
