Job description

Our client, a powerful and progressive global industrial business, are currently recruiting for an experienced EHS & Facilities Manager. As EHS & Facilities Manager you will develop and implement Health and Safety and Environmental best practice, ensuring the Company complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision and will also manage the maintenance of the site buildings.

As EHS & Facilities Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the Company’s Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently across the organisation.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety Policy and Practice and to develop and implement new policy and procedure documents as required.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a Health and Safety Action Plan for the Company, and to contribute to the development and delivery of the Company’s Business Plan.
  • Identify and meet employee training needs in relation to health and safety.
  • To consult employees on Health and Safety issues and to support and develop the role of the Company’s Health and Safety Committee, including arranging, and attending meetings.
  • Advise the Management Team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety, and welfare legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations, and generating action plans to ensure compliance across the organisation.
  • Support managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed.
  • Work with managers and staff to ensure risk assessments are prepared and reviewed as necessary.
  • Assist line managers in implementing Health and Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Ensure audits are carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures and identify and implement improvements.
  • Manage the collection, storage and analysis of accident and other health and safety data and to produce management reports, identify trends and recommend action.
  • Ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out, e.g., testing of portable electrical appliances and the review of risk assessments.
  • Investigate or, where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action taken.
  • Access professional support and guidance from other relevant organisations and external sources as necessary and to develop networks for sharing information.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review the Company’s Business Continuity plans.
  • Managing the maintenance of site buildings, facilities, services, and equipment. Responsible for planning and implementation of site projects.
  • Manage the preventative maintenance of our sites buildings to ensure it remains operational.
  • Develops and manages an effective repairs system that ensures the facility is repaired within an appropriate timescale.
  • Oversee the management of contractors, including building contractors, grounds maintenance contractors, refuse collectors, cleaners and any other contractors who may be on site at any time to ensure high standards are met.
  • Oversee the management of the control programs of capital work, security, and cleanliness of the site buildings.     

To be successful in the role of EHS & Facilities Manager, you will possess the following qualities:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent within Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
  • NEBOSH Qualification.
  • Proven experience within a similar role.
  • Ability to develop, motivate and supervise teams.
  • Experience of working within a similar environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, diverse and evolving work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

This position is based near Redditch and is easily commutable from Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Alcester, Studley, South Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester, Kidderminster and Stourbridge.
