We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic School Facilities Manager to lead a site team and manage the maintenance of a new purpose-built secondary school premises. The successful candidate will have a qualification in Facilities Management or equivalent and significant experience in facilities and staff management.
Day to day of the role:- Ensure Health & Safety and compliance checks and procedures are carried out, with accurate record-keeping and reporting
- Conduct weekly and monthly checks, such as L8 flushing, plant room and alarm tests, fire safety checks and logs, and emergency lighting tests
- Line management of the Caretaking team, including performance management and training
- Secure the site and buildings during term time, school holidays, evenings, and weekends as required
- Manage building and system emergencies
- Maintain the site, including regular inspections, repairs, maintenance, and a rolling programme of decoration and refurbishment
- Control litter and rubbish disposal, and maintain fixtures, fittings, and furniture
- Supervise and monitor cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts
- Employ contractors for works beyond in-house capabilities, following school procurement procedures
- Oversee new building and refurbishment projects, acting as a liaison between contractors and the school
- Prepare the site for major events
- Act as Budget Holder for areas of delegated responsibility
- Maintain all paperwork and electronic records connected with facilities management
- Monitor and evaluate a Premises Plan aligned with the School Development Plan
- Act as a school first aider and maintain qualifications
- Stay updated with changes in legislation and best practices in facilities management
- Perform additional duties as required by the School Business Leader or Headteacher
- Engage in personal professional development activities
- Appropriate qualification in Facilities Management or equivalent
- Recognised Health & Safety qualification or working towards one
- Significant experience in facilities and staff management
- Proficiency in record-keeping and reporting
- Strong leadership and performance management skills
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage emergencies and multiple projects
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practices in facilities management
