Job description

Wychem, an Ascensus Specialties Company, is excited to announce the Finance Assistant position where you will have the ability to join a small and thriving team with a global footprint. The Finance Assistant role is crucial in assisting the Management Accountant with financial transactions, budgeting, cost analysis, financial reporting, compliance, and audit support. Responsibilities include processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions, supporting accounting functions, conducting monthly closing procedures, and aiding the Management Accountant with various financial tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices, obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Ensuring accurate VAT accounting.
  • Preparation of weekly payment runs.
  • Conducting supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and customers to facilitate prompt invoice payments.
  • Assisting the Management Accountant with monthly accounts preparation.
  • Support in payroll preparation.
  • Conducting monthly analysis of company credit cards and staff expenses.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Qualifications
  • Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Qualification.
    • Note - Years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
  • Experience with accountancy software, particularly Xero.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness are essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software.


The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of the right to work in the UK.
