Finance Customs Manager

NET Recruit are partnering with a nationally recognised, industry leader within the logistics sector to assist them in their search for an experienced Finance Customs Manager to join their team for a 3–6-month contract. This role can be based in either London or Milton Keynes on a hybrid basis. With decades of success and a history that has shown them to be an industry giant, this business is continuously expanding with this role coming about due to internal growth of the team.
The position holder will be collaborating with various teams across the business including Finance and International Operations in order to ensure the accuracy of Tax and Duty raised by the business. Ensuring that clear reconciliation processes are in place allowing for charges to be raised through appropriate channels.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this role your duties may include but are not limited to:

• Overseeing and being accountable for the Financial Control Framework in relation to import and export customs
• Managing all key processes within Tax and Duty billing activity to ensure these are documented and mapped and carrying out monthly reconciliations checks
• Ensuring the deferment account that is with HMRC is reconciled and that discrepancies are resolved written off and investigating and challenging any charges that aren't reconciled
• Billing UK customers with all export customs taxes and duties involving 3-way reconciliation between SAP data, UK billing data and GLS partner data and ensuring that all discrepancies are resolved in collaboration with GLS partners
• Supporting on customer enquiries
• Advising team members on the commercial customs teams with any billing related
• Actively seeking long-term solutions to known process issues 
• Taking responsibility for the control environment relating to the off-system billing, ensuring this is SOX compliant and ensuring there are adequate controls in place for complex billing enquiries

What you will need to Apply:
The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent financial experience, relating to finance management, financial & data analysis and applicants must have previously worked within a role handling Customs processes and systems for commercial and postal. Strong knowledge of international operations relating to finance and logistics is needed, as well as advanced Excel & Access skills and preferably exposure to Alteryx. Excellent communication skills are expected, as well as a good eye for detail and strong problem solving abilities.
You must be happy to take a contract position and be immediately available or have a short notice to start to be considered for this role.

The successful candidate for this position will be on a day rate of around £300 a day, and will have the option to work in a very good hybrid environment, with only one day in the office a week needed.
