Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Experience in developing finance functions and understanding the details which underpin a busy transactional finance team
- A highly skilled and commercial finance professional with the ability to develop functional strategies in line with the business demands and to systematically develop the finance function to align with this strategy
- Equally driven by understanding and developing the detail of a day-to-day business operation and the strategic planning
- A strong leader who can develop a team to reach their potential
- Happy to work cross functionally and collaboratively
- Experienced in managing and forecasting cashflow to allow the business to strategically develop
- Experience of developing pricing strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to challenge, engage, influence and add value at a senior operational level and within the wider senior finance team
- Familiarity with small business operations and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
- Extensive knowledge of management accounting, accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis
- Professional accountancy qualification is essential (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Duties includes, but not limited to:
- Report directly to the Managing Director and utilise an outsourced Finance Director to ensure the finance function is positively developing and controlling costs effectively
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the finance team is fit for the future and developing accordingly
- Must know what "excellent" looks like for a finance function and have a clear vision on how to deliver to these standards
- Understand the business strategy and develop a financial framework and cashflow forecast to underpin future plans
- Act as a trusted finance business partner, collaborating closely with stakeholders across the organisation to provide financial insights, pricing and sales analysis, and support for decision-making
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to challenge, engage, influence and add value at a senior operational level and within the wider senior finance team
- A "hands-on" approach to understand the details of day-to-day transactions and to work to improve efficiencies and mitigate risks with the Finance Manager
- Assist the Finance Manager with overseeing financial operations of the company, including management accounts, pricing models, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, rebate claims, expense claims, payroll preparation, credit control, statement reconciliations and financial reporting
- Monitor cash flow, prepare cash flow forecasts, and manage working capital to support the company's financial stability
- Assist with the budgeting process, working closely with Managing Director to develop and monitor budgetary goals
- Develop a pricing strategy which provides structure to the sales team, minimal customer disruption and a tool for improved profitability
- Commercially aware and has an appreciation for the impact of actions on our end customers
- Familiarity with small business operations with stock holding and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
- Utilise Excel to develop financial models, automate data analysis, and improve financial reporting efficiency
- Provide leadership and assistance during external audits, tax filings, and other financial assessments as required
- Extensive knowledge of management accounting, accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory and HMRC requirements, and internal policies
- Stay up to date with industry trends, accounting standards, and best practices to continuously enhance financial operations
