The Role
To initially be the assistant accountant to the existing office manager with the eventual aim of taking over the full responsibility of the accounting and office managerial roles.
Experience with excel spreadsheets and Sage accounting package is essential.
The initial and subsequent role will be to take on the preparation of the monthly management accounts and overview the existing staff who deal with the input of the bulk of the sales and purchases invoicing. The role would include preparing and processing journals onto sage for various matters including postings for wages, fixed asset depreciation, prepayments, stock etc.
Although statistics are produced for each site, monthly from the financial records, there is a requirement for anomalies against budget expectations to be more fully reviewed and considered in more depth.
The production of more detailed site management statistics together with more in-depth analysis and reasons why/recommendations highlighted on an ongoing basis, reporting directly to the MD.
The stockpiles are looked and assessed at every month end to support the stock figures for the monthly financial management accounts. However, more accuracy in assessing and producing more accurate stock takes at all the sites would be part of the role.
There would also be other ad hoc management cost accounting duties to be undertaken. including amongst other things, budgeting for current research projects, and producing reports to the MD.
Once having settled into the role, other opportunities exist to expand the role into other office managerial and operational aspects of the business.
