Your new company
You will be working for this well-regarded charity, who provide funding to organisations across Scotland whose purpose is to alleviate poverty and trauma across Scotland. The organisation are looking for a Financial Accountant to help them make an impact on the organisation, which will benefit the communities in Scotland who need help the most. With the option of working 3, 4 or 5 days, this role is initially available on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis, with the potential to become a permanent position.
Your new role
Within this varied role you will provide key support to the Finance Manager, interacting with colleagues across the team and organisation to ensure the smooth delivery of financial accounting information. You will be responsible for monitoring and analysing financial data as part of the month and year-end process, including liaising with internal and external auditors.
Your duties will include; preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and forecast, analysis of financial performance and provide commentary on variances to budget including balance sheet reconciliations, ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end processes, assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and working papers, including liaison with external auditors, liaise with internal audit as required, ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, preparation of quarterly VAT returns, identifying any process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness of the team and support the finance manager with ad hoc projects and analysis as required.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience in a similar role and will be either qualified or part-qualified and will have experience in a similar position, ideally within the charity sector. You will also have experience of VAT returns and strong IT skills. In addition, you will have good commercial and business awareness along with great stakeholder engagement skills.
