Financial Accountant – Treasury & Fixed Assets

The Finance and Procurement Directorate is responsible for the management of the University’s financial affairs. It contributes to the strategic direction of the University and provides financial advice and support to the University Executive Group and Court. The Directorate delivers services relating to student finance, accounts receivable and accounts payable, financial accounting and reporting, treasury, taxation, insurance, procurement, research finance and also finance systems. The Directorate also advises both school and professional service management teams and supports wider institutional initiatives.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as Financial Accountant – Treasury & Fixed Assets, within the Financial Accounting team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead in the development of the University’s treasury function, including the development of short and medium term cash forecasts, while also having responsibility for the Accounts Receivable team. This post benefits from a broad range of responsibilities including fixed asset accounting and managing the University’s endowment portfolio.

This position would suit someone with a keen interest in financial modelling, the treasury function and a can-do attitude that will support developing an understanding of the University’s varied cashflows.

This role has been approved for hybrid working, currently working on campus a minimum of two days per week.

Your priorities will include:

· Treasury planning and cashflow forecasting to ensure short and medium term liquidity is maintained

· Developing and managing treasury policies, including foreign exchange policy

· Leading the Accounts Receivable team ensuring efficient practices are adopted. processes are robust and a high level of customer service is delivered

· Undertaking the capital accounting for the University and its subsidiaries, providing reporting and technical advice to the wider University community

· Leading the management of the University’s endowment portfolio (circa £30m), ensuring that endowments are utilised appropriately and for the benefit of staff, students and the wider University community

Who we’re looking for:

· Strong technical accounting knowledge and an ability to problem-solve technical accounting matters

· Experience of treasury management and fixed asset accounting

· Proven experience of delivering a high level of customer service

· Most importantly, you will have a keen interest in the treasury function, an appetite for problem solving and a can-do attitude
