- Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week, Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm

The main duties will include the preparation of the council’s bank reconciliations, preparation and submission of grant claims. Duties will include:
- Review of Business Continuity Plans for the Finance Department and advise managers accordingly.
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Statement of Accounts in accordance with statutory requirements and compliance with relevant Codes of Practice.
- Assist the Financial Accountant in meeting the requirements of the Local Government
- Assist with the operation of the Councils treasury management function to include:
- Monitor the overall liquidity of Council finances
- Operation of the Councils e-banking system and effect appropriate transfers of funds.
- Arrange for the investment of surplus funds in accordance with the Councils Treasury Management Policy
- Assist with the development and review of the Council’s computerised financial accounting systems.
- Respond to requests received by the Financial Accounting section for information under Freedom of Information Act. (FOI).
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of all the council’s bank accounts, to include on-line reconciliations of income received by the council.
- Perform reconciliation to the general ledger on a monthly basis
- Perform reconciliation of suspense account on a monthly basis.
Criteria:
- Be a member by examination of a CCAB recognised body
OR
- Hold a third level qualification in Accounting or Business/Finance related subjects and be currently pursuing a course of study of a CCAB recognised body
- Consideration may be given to candidates who do not hold the above qualifications but who can demonstrate 5 years’ experience as detailed below:
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a computerised accruals accounting environment to include assisting in the preparation of financial statements and the preparation of bank reconciliations.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Organise and prioritise workload
- Maintain a high degree of quality and accuracy
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full
- As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
