At Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) we provide integrated energy solutions that deliver cost efficiency, resilience and accelerate our customers' journeys to a low carbon future. We serve business and public sector organisations, increasingly focusing on delivering decarbonisation of power, heating and transport through our portfolio of solutions. This role functionally supports our UK and Ireland business where we build, operate, and maintain clean energy assets to help large public sector and industrial customers decarbonise. This includes sourcing green energy, providing project design and delivery expertise, financing options, and industry leading operational capabilities to deliver energy efficiency and save customers money, helping them balance the demands of planet and profit.
The role of Business Finance Analyst, UK&I Services focuses on providing support to the Services Finance Director, Centrica Business Solutions to create value by improving the quality of decisions and ensure that a chosen Business strategy delivers the highest financial benefit at an acceptable level of risk.
You will ensure the provision of robust financial reporting and analysis, planning and forecasts to the business and Group.
You will work with the business teams, facilitating interaction and knowledge transfer where required between the business teams and wider finance teams. Identifying opportunities for the business and championing the importance of establishing and maintaining controls to mitigate risk is also key.
The Role
Some of your accountabilities will include:
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in CBS UK&I and across Finance
- Partner with the UK&I Services Operations & Maintenance business to understand the key drivers of revenue and costs, in order to be able to translate complex commercial issues into financial impacts
- Support the commercial teams in identifying contract investment and renewal opportunities and understanding whether the financial return correlates with the level of risk associated with the opportunity
- Support the wider UK&I finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance
- Produce standard monthly finance deliverables (performance packs, KPIs) to the agreed format, timeline and quality, supported by clear and focused messaging
- Support risk management activities to ensure the relevant controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of a project opportunity
- Regularly report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, supporting business review of financial and operational (value driver) variances to identify corrective actions
- Support delivery of an accurate, efficient and transparent plan/forecast which meets finance and business stakeholder requirements
- Carry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision making including investment cases
- Identify performance improvement interventions
The Person
We are looking for a fully qualified accountant from a recognised body (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIMA) who has experience of financial analysis and forecasting. You'll be adept at Excel and PowerBI with strong attention to detail. It will also help if you understand the energy industry but it is not essential.
