Financial Control Accountant

We are currently recruiting for a Financial Control Accountant to join this large and complex not-for-profit organisation based in Central London.

In this key Financial Accountant role, you will be working in a busy Financial Accounting and Control team. You will be managing, leading, and motivating a team of four Finance Officers to deliver timely and accurate period-end processes including month-end, journals, treasury and balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting & Control, the post holder will lead a team that complete key financial accounting, controls and reporting activities across the organisation.

Your daily duties will include:

• Support the Financial Accountants with tasks related to the preparation of financial statements, to assist with the management of the year end and external audit process.
• Reviewing the year-end trial balances and analysing key variances with previous years to identify potential issues.
• Responsible for the management of the balance sheet reconciliation process.
• Management of the month end close process to ensure the ledger is complete and closed on a timely basis.
• Ensuring regular bank reconciliations are prepared across all companies and subsidiaries.
• Proactive and innovative in resolving issues and queries from key stakeholders, liaising with other members of the Finance team.
• Managing, motivating and developing of the team, monitoring performance, providing regular feedback and encouraging initiative and ideas.

The successful candidate will be a newly qualified, or a part qualified candidate with significant relevant experience from within a complex financial accounting environment, it is essential that you possess excellent technical accounting skills, with a good understanding of financial accounting standards.

You must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience of managing and motivating a team of Finance Officers that deliver first class outputs. It is imperative that you have strong systems experience, especially Excel.
