Financial Controller

The Financial Controller will manage all financial tasks of our client's renewable energy company, ensuring effective financial management and excellent business performance. This role involves supervising accounting staff, managing financial systems and budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring legal compliance in all financial operations.

1. Financial Management and Strategy

   • Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
   • Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans.

2. Accounting and Reporting

   • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual financial reporting, adhering to statutory law and financial regulations.
   • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

3. Budgeting and Forecasting

   • Prepare detailed company budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with departmental heads.
   • Analyse and report variances; initiating corrective actions when necessary to manage costs while advancing the company's objectives.

4. Cash Flow Management

   • Manage the company's cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
   • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.

5. Internal Controls and Compliance

   • Develop and oversee internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements.
   • Respond to audits to ensure continual compliance with internal and external regulations.

6. Team Management and Development

   • Supervise and lead a team of finance professionals, setting clear goals and objectives.
   • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's job performance and satisfaction.

• Qualified ACA or ACCA
• At least 3-4 years of experience in a financial management role, with a preference for experience in the renewable energy sector.
• Proven expertise in statutory accounting, VAT returns, and tax management.
• Strong understanding of UK GAAP and tax regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
