We are looking for a dynamic, recently qualified accountant to join the business as group Financial Controller. Thoresby Estate is a traditional rural estate in north Nottinghamshire, spread across the villages of Budby, Perlethorpe, Edwinstowe and Laxton with over one hundred residential properties, 20 farmyards and commercial units including several listed buildings.
Pierrepont Estates Management requires an ambitious accountant as our Financial Controller to oversee the Estate Treasury and accounting functions. Main duties and accountability:
Accounting:
Supervision of the accounts staff in the preparation of accounts for the various clients of Pierrepont Estates Management Limited using Landmark Prime accounts. The accounts team currently comprises of 3 other employees.
In the case of some smaller trusts and family business, dealing with some accounting matters personally.
Preparation of Budgets and Cash Flow forecasts for each business after liaison with Department Heads and the Executive Director .
Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts for each business to Executive Director and relevant Trustees.
Submission of all accounts up to trial balance, liaising on the preparation of year end accounts and final reconciliation to internal accounting system.
To oversee VAT returns and resolve queries and problems. To deal with VAT inspections and option to Tax.
Liaise with Executive Director, external accountants and legal advisors on taxation matters.
Treasury management - investing surplus funds and contact with investment advisors.
Credit Control & Credit check new customers.
Financial appraisal of new projects in conjunction with the senior member of staff managing the projects. Monitoring the financial outcome of projects.
Negotiation with the bank regarding overdrafts and loans. First point of contact for banking relationship.
Ensure banking mandates are up to date.
Point of contact for Banking, credit cards, mandates, loans and on-line banking.
Manage the PDQ accounts.
Liaise with Investment Management Companies, update investment mandates.
Payroll:
Manage relationship with third party payroll provider. Ensure that all necessary data is provided to third party payroll provider to enable staff to be paid on time and that HMRC receive all data required according to legislation.
Preparation of Forms P11D.
Manage defined contribution pensions. Compliance for Opting in employees into a qualifying pension scheme.
Liaise with advisors and manage 1978 pension scheme (a defined benefit scheme). Liaising with PPF regarding Levy, Pension Regulator, etc.
Administration:
Record keeping, advice and liaison on Family personal affairs.
Attendance at Trustees' meetings, locally and in London, providing financial information.
Completion of government statistical returns.
Supervision of Public Liability Insurance information.
Account for insurance costs across the businesses.
First point of contact for Charities Commission and Companies house, including Confirmation Statements.
New company formation and registration if required.
Manage time recording system.
