Accountancy Recruit is partnering a client in Glasgow to engage an interim Financial Controller to be based on site either in West Glasgow or Kirkcaldy for 3-6 months. We are open to limited company contractors and expect this project to be outside IR35. We are also considering candidates open to fixed term contracts. The interim FC will support the client in the preparation of financial statements for their first audit. The role would suit an Accountant, Finance Manager, Financial Accountant or Management Accountant with experience of preparing management accounts and statutory accounts for auditors. The interim FC will review management accounts and all financial records to ensure that statutory reporting is of audit standard. The interim Financial Controller will have the following responsibilities:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of all financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness ready for audit.
- Ensure that financial transactions are recorded in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Review and ensure that all supporting documents such as invoices, receipts, contracts, and financial statements are organised to support the audit.
- Assess internal control procedures and make recommendations for improvements to strengthen controls and mitigate risks.
- Coordinate with external auditors and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, facilitating audit inquiries, providing requested documents, and supporting audit procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance documentation, including financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures, in accordance with audit requirements.
To be successful in this engagement the Financial Controller will have the following experience:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified finance professional with strong technical knowledge and understanding of audit requirements.
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally supporting a client through their first audit.
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
The rate advertised for this role is a guideline and the rate offered will be commensurate with experience.
