Global Organisation seeks a Financial Controller for their UK & Ireland division based at their offices in Leatherhead. The Financial Controller will manage the financial reporting functions of the UK business. They will conduct period month end, US GAAP reporting, balance sheet, reconciliations, statutory and tax reporting.
The Financial Controller would be a Qualified Accountant who has previously worked for large, multi-site Organisations.
Duties of the Financial Controller include:
- Manage all period end closing financial reporting activities for the UK business in conjunction with Shared Service Centre (SSC)
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Statutory accounting standards, policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Prepare Annual Statutory Accounts and provide supporting documentation to assist with external audit and review.
- Co-ordinate and review quarter end reporting activities
- Review and meet with the SSC to discuss KPIs. Participate in dashboard reviews to ensure Balance Sheet Reconciliations and other schedules are completed on a timely and accurate basis.
- Work closely with SSC and market colleagues to resolve issues and communicate changes.
- Ensure an effective internal control environment. Coordinate the planning and lead the execution of local internal SOX and external audit work.
- Interact with government agencies, fiscal authorities, financial institutions, and industry organizations, as necessary.
- Respond to requests for statistical information for US and local authorities and any ad hoc requests.
- Calculate quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations required for consolidated financial reporting.
- Support R&D tax credit analysis and filing working with external tax consultant.
- Prepare quarterly corporation tax analysis and submit appropriate payments.
- Review annual corporation tax return and provide supporting analysis to tax advisors.
- Coordinate with local tax authorities on audits as needed.
- Support SAP Implementation project for the UK legal entity.
- Responsible for ad hoc analysis and special projects as directed by the UK finance lead.
Requirements for the Financial Controller include:
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline; accounting, finance, economics
- Professional accounting designation; Chartered Accountant (ACA), Certified Accountant (ACCA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- IT literate. Able to use standard business software, communication tools and accountancy systems.
- Post qualification experience in a financial role at least 4-6 years preferably with a multinational company.
- Knowledge of multi-national financial reporting requirements and accounting operations
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
(knowledge of SAP is required; knowledge of SAGE and PowerBI a plus)
- Experience of tax accounting, internal controls, and associated accounting pronouncements
