Financial Controller

A proactive Accountant is needed to join a busy office team of a growing business near Crediton as the Financial Controller. You will be working in a highly visible position, supporting the Finance Director to deliver an effective finance function and provide financial insight to the business. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for a range of tasks including:

• Supervising a team of 4 staff, responsible for the purchase and sales ledgers and credit control as needed.
• Income reconciliation and cash flow reporting.
• Preparing monthly journals, producing the monthly management accounts including commentary and variance analysis.
• Providing weekly financial, KPI and management information reports for the leadership team.
• Identifying and investigating discrepancies.
• Responsible for fixed assets, accruals and prepayments.
• Analytical work on all areas of the business to produce quality data analysis and reports on margins using Excel and PowerBI.
• Co-ordination of the monthly business payroll payments.
• Ad hoc reporting and project work as and when required.

Financial Controller - The Rewards:

Salary: Up to £40,000pa

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm.
Location: Office based

Financial Controller - The Person:

• The successful candidate will have a proactive, friendly personality and enjoy being in a busy, varied role.
• A proactive accounting professional you’ll have recent experience of management accounting, financial analysis and management information reporting.
• Supervisory / management experience is desirable as you will take responsibility for day to day leadership of the finance team.
• Ideally you will be CIMA/ACCA/ACA recently qualified or near qualification and seeking the next step in your career. Applications from individuals who have the relevant finance experience are also welcome.
• A natural problem-solver with excellent analytical skills.
• You’ll be a first-rate communicator able to inspire, persuade and influence with the ability to positively manage and empower others to achieve. As a team player, you’ll enjoy working in a collaborative manner with colleagues at all levels in the business.
• Exception IT skills with experience of MS Office particularly Excel including formulae, look ups and pivot tables are essential. Knowledge of Power BI is highly desirable.
