Financial Controller

Our client, a leading company within the leisure industry, is currently seeking a motivated Financial Controller to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounts department, ensuring efficient operations, compliance with company policy, risk mitigation, and profit maximisation. You will also develop and train employees to meet standards and provide quality management support senior management.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and accuracy in financial management, as well as effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
The responsibilities:
- Oversee departmental performance, including targets, sales, profits, payroll costs, expenses, and promotional strategies.
- Manage all aspects of personnel, including leadership, recruitment, training, performance reviews, and addressing performance or conduct concerns in compliance with regulations.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations through training, conducting, and documenting risk assessments for employees.
- Oversee promotions, daily operations, accounting accuracy, and departmental efficiency and security.
- Oversee sales ledger debts, ensure billing accuracy, and mitigate risks through credit control procedures.
- Implement purchase control procedures, monitor expenditure, and ensure adherence to payment terms and authenticity of prepayments.
- Adhere to cash handling procedures, conduct reconciliations, and ensure adherence to bank reconciliation and cash risk mitigation measures.
- Ensure payroll reconciliation and compliance with password controls, and provide support for year-end filing and tax payments.
- Manage petty cash procedures and revenue control, ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation of revenues.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of management accounts while maintaining the security of company records and assets.
The candidate:
- Proven experience within a similar role.
- Accountancy qualification or qualified by experience.
- Proficiency in health and safety regulations and risk management.
- Capacity to manage budgets and resources efficiently.
- Ability to motivate teams and conduct performance evaluations.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and multitasking efficiently.
