The NSG Group is one of the World’s largest manufacturers of glass and glazing products for Architectural, Automotive and Technical Glass sectors.
We are now seeking a Financial Controller to join us at our European Technician Centre in Lathom, with some travel around the UK as required. Hybrid working is permitted, although a regular physical presence in the office is required.
As our Financial Controller, you will own and manage the financial reporting for the legal entity of Pilkington United Kingdom Limited (PUKL). PUKL employs over 500 people across 3 Upstream and 5 Downstream sites. It’s FY23 turnover was £188m. This role reports to the UK Finance Director and has two direct reports.
You will support both the Upstream and Downstream teams, by developing their understanding of business performance and driving improvements in profitability and cash generation. You will support the UK & Ireland Leadership Team in understanding the key drivers and issues within the businesses, utilising and developing standard and bespoke reports, and own and manage the monthly management accounting routines as well as the annual forecasting and budgeting process. Reviewing business processes within the Finance function, identifying and driving improvements in efficiency and accuracy, you will submit the statutory accounts for PUKL in a timely and accurate manner, and work with Government agencies in applications for grants.
Supporting customer, segment, and branch profitability processes, you will provide accurate information to the Group Business Support Team in relation to monthly results reporting and ad-hoc analysis. You will drive improvements in working capital through the careful management, reporting, and forecasting of inventories, receivables, and payables, and support working capital steering committees as required. You will also be involved in the reporting of major capex projects and be responsible for monitoring expenditure to ensure that senior management are kept informed of significant deviations to plan.
We like our Financial Controller to be a qualified Accountant with sufficient post qualification experience. You will be someone who can work to tight deadlines, be comfortable with a high degree of autonomy, possess excellent analytical skills, a logical approach, and a high level of computer skills. In addition, you will have strong people management and excellent communication skills.
The ability to operate in a matrix organisation with multiple customers is essential, as is having the confidence to challenge the status quo to ensure that activities are adding value. You will work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external service providers.
A full UK driving licence and car ownership will be required due to location of the site and requirement of limited travel.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary - £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
