The Business:
Working in partnership with Seymour John, our client is experiencing extremely high growth from £40m in 2023 to £120m in 2024. They have an order book worth over £500m.
Their operations encompass both design, manufacturing and construction activities with their largest current project worth £130m. They are in a high growth niche of the market.
As a result of the boom for their services, they urgently need an experienced Financial Controller or Finance Director with energy required to take on an under-developed finance function and turn it into a function fit for a much larger, rapidly scaling business.
Formerly entrepreneur owned, a majority stake in the business was bought out by a global conglomerate with the ability to fund the growth. The new owners have been highly supportive thus far, though recognise there's a lot of work to do during 2024. With the relatively new CEO leading the charge, the business is also committed to putting good values and people at the heart of their cultural development.
The job is contractually site-based 5 days a week, with ad hoc flexibility around life as needed.
Whilst you will immediately be a member of the Operational Management Team, after 6 months' probation, you can be formally promoted to the Executive Management Team. If the starting salary feels light for your personal circumstances, talk to me anyway as this milestone represents an opportunity to review your value to the business.
Challenges for Finance
* Finance is currently under-invested in given the leap in scale from £40m to £120m this year, and it's fair to say there's an urgent need for an experienced, energised FD to join the business and get finance under control.

* Develop accurate, reliable, trusted financial reporting and forecasting (not currently available) and eliminate financial surprises.
* Take a proactive look at the cost base and provide guidance to the business.
* Review and build finance team appropriate to the challenges of the business.
* Support Strategic and Operational Leadership in making well-informed decisions.
* Growth will likely stretch cash resources, even though the Group have been fully supportive to date in providing required investment / working capital.
Who are we looking for?
* An experienced Financial Controller or Finance Director with a strong background in manufacturing and/or construction projects.
* Someone with a proven track record in building a successful finance function.
