Job description

Central is currently recruiting for a Floating Support Team Manager, to work in the Brent area. The service provides Floating Support to clients who have slept rough or are sleeping rough, who have been supported by partners into their own tenancies. The service supports clients to sustain their tenancies and develop and maintain the skills to live independently. 

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM.  Cover is required for approximately 2-3 months. The pay rate for this role is £19.08 per hour, with £2.87 holiday pay, totalling £21.95 per hour. 

Please note; you'll be managing a Floating Support service which covers the West London area. You'll be based at the office in Brent four days per week and can work from home (to complete admin tasks) one day per week.  

In this position, you will be expected to; 

  • Work with the Area Director to manage a team of 3 staff ensuring staff undertake all activities and monitor their performance
  • Ensure the service meets its contractual requirements and continuously improve project performance
  • Maintain staffing levels to deliver the services 
  • Be available to deal with clients who need help or advice, either by phone or on a drop-in basis (for example; assisting with managing finances including benefits and debt advice or accessing services to meet their needs, including health care, mental health support, advocacy, befriending and social and leisure activities)
  • Monitor all support being provided to clients and provide direction where appropriate (Floating Support is provided to a case load of up to 64 clients for around six months per client across 6 boroughs)
  • Represent the organisation at partnership and strategic meetings to establish and build links with local authority teams in order to ensure sufficient appropriate referrals 
  • Work closely with commissioners, other statutory and voluntary partners to develop the service and offer to clients further.
  • Keep clear and relevant records and statistics, and to ensure good communication with the project workers and project evaluators
  • Chair team meetings, case management meetings and make a contribution to any policy reviews and consultations

To apply for this role, you must have; 

  • Experience of working with people who are categorized as high risk or have complex needs such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence and offending behaviour 
  • Experience of staff and service management and experience of managing a dispersed team working across several different sites
  • Experience of helping people who have experience or are at risk of homelessness with setting up benefits and maintaining their accommodation 
  • Knowledge of supported accommodation and other services vital to successful support while people are homeless or need pre-tenancy support.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal Justice system and benefits system
  • Experience of contributing to high level strategic discussions with an ability to deliver the outcomes required to promote the service 
  • A clear understanding and ability to implement risk management, information sharing and data security arrangements
  • Ability to produce high quality reports. This should include an ability to use data capture systems including running queries and reports. 
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries when working with vulnerable adults.

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
