The Company
Since its inception 40 years ago, Safelab has been at the leading edge of both ducted and filtration Fume Cupboard supply. Based in the South West of England we have our own in-house design and manufacturing facilities, which allow us to develop and manufacture high quality British Fume Cupboards.
The company also leads the field as a Fume Cupboard service provider for its own and other manufacturers’ cupboards. To achieve the highest level of customer service we use our own in-house ducting, installation and commissioning engineers.
The Role
This is a field-based role working from home, the engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing and repair ofFume Cupboards/Laminar flow cabinets and own in-house ducting, installation and commissioning engineers.
Ensuring the delivery of excellent standards of service to new and existing customers.
This role primarily serves the area above with the intention to return home each day but, when working on an installation it is likely to require overnight accommodation from time to time. Once fully trained, each Engineer will work mainly on their own but at times with colleagues. All work closely with the project management Team and report to the Field Operations Manager.
The Person
The engineer will have proven experience in an installation & service role along with communication and interpersonal skills. Be customer focused with a strong problem-solving / fault-finding ability, with self-motivation and drive. An electrical bias or proven knowledge is essential with an installation & / or service background.
The candidate must have a full (ideally) clean driving licence & ability to pass both Enhanced DBS & police authority checks.
Experience
· To qualify for the upper salary the applicant must have (ideally, 3 years minimum) experience in installing & testing Fume Cupboards & / or Class I / II safety cabinets & / or LEV’s.
Essential Duties and Functions
· Installing new equipment including PVC/Polypropylene Ducting and welding.
· Providing scheduled, preventative and reactive maintenance/servicing on Fume Cupboards, Class I & II safety cabinets & LEV systems.
· Calibrating/validating, modifying and commissioning Systems
· Providing post installation training for customers
· Perform on-site risk assessments
· Computer literate (all reporting carried out on laptop).
Supervisory Responsibilities
Internal – None, External – Sub-contract on-site labour.
Qualifications (preferred but not essential)
· NVQ in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or equivalent
· 16th / 17th Edition Electrical.
· P601.
· GCSE in Maths and English at grade C or above/equivalent
· Operating within an ISO9001:2000 environment
· Working knowledge of Health & Safety
· Basic IT skills – working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word / Excel).
Field based Training.
· Fume cupboard, Laminar flow cabinet & LEV testing.
Formal Training (unless already qualified).
· DOP.
· KI Discus.
· P601.
· IPAF / PASMA.
· CSCS.
· SSSTS.
Prime Measures of Performance (all formally KPI monitored).
· Punctuality & attendance.
· First call success rate.
· Timely return of field service documentation, expenses and paperwork.
· Positive customer satisfaction surveys.
· Health & Safety – zero accident record.
