The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Graduate Safety Case Engineer , you will play a pivotal role within the Safety Case Engineering Group under the ‘Engineering Authority’ strand of the Office of the Chief Engineer. The Safety Case Engineering Group is responsible for the production of all of UKAEA’s Safety Cases and is pivotal in the assessment of high hazard operations with both a radiological and non-radiological hazard.
In this role you will support the Safety Case Team in the production and maintenance of modern Safety Cases and reports for all facilities within UKAEA. You will also provide safety analysis support to new facilities at UKAEA and other planned fusion facilities.
As a graduate member of the Office of the Chief Engineer, the post-holder will develop into a role model within UKAEA and will be held to high behavioural standards.
UKAEA’s two-year Graduate Scheme is split by 80% of your time developing both your general work-related skills and professional qualifications and 20% of your working time dedicated to graduate training and development. Within the 20% training and development, there is a core suite of activities designed to develop your professional and business skills. Additional Responsibilities:
- Collect technical information and co-ordinate expertise from within UKAEA and from external specialist service providers; this will go on to support lead Safety Case authors to deliver Safety Case and Safety Engineering activities.
- Support Safety Case authors to prepare Safety Cases for UKAEA facilities; This involves collating information from those managing the facility.
- Contribute to the preparation of Safety Case documents in support of plant modifications and operations.
- Technical assessments in support of the Safety Case. This would involve research into assessment methods and proposing a methodology.
- Attend design reviews associated with their work to develop understanding of Safety Cases and how they are governed and implemented at UKAEA.
This position may require infrequent travel within UK and/or possible travel abroad.
