Carbon Tracker Initiative is an independent financial think tank that carries out in-depth analysis on the impact of the energy transition on capital markets and the potential investment in high-cost, carbon-intensive fossil fuels. We believe that financial markets, regulators, investors and policymakers all have an urgent role to play in guiding the world to a climate-secure energy system. Carbon Tracker’s analysis of ‘unburnable carbon’, ‘stranded assets’, and ‘wasted capital’ has reframed the debate around climate change risk.
Role overview
As the Grants Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Development & Programme Management in various critical functions. Your primary responsibilities revolve around fundraising activities, including the meticulous administration of grants and the drafting and reporting on grant proposals. Internally, you will act as a liaison between different teams, especially research, seeking their input into grant proposals. The role also involves working closely with the Finance Team to ensure alignment and accuracy in financial reporting for fundraising efforts. Additionally, the role is responsible for collecting evidence and data, crucial for comprehensive fundraising reports, ultimately contributing to the organisation's sustained financial health and growth.
Role and responsibilities
Fundraising and Monitoring & Evaluation
Good understanding of the global funding ecosystem and the motivations within the grant-making and fundraising climate change space.
Pro-active approach and the ability to research opportunities and develop engagement strategies (under the direction and guidance of Head of Development).
Provide support in the scoping and mapping of funders and helping to build and establish smart engagement opportunities.
Maintain and update the fund-raising database and calendar to track upcoming fundraising opportunities, proposal and reporting deadlines.
Work collaboratively with the research team leads and finance on tracking, proposals and reporting.
Ensure delivery of robust proposals and reports are submitted on time.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Assist and support the implementation and effective management of planning, monitoring and evaluation requirements and process.
Follow up on performance indicators/success criteria, targets and milestones, preparation of reports.
Research and update data and statistics for quarterly, annual, and other reports.
Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing.
Support the Head of Development in the coordination, documentation and professional presentation of M&E outputs and outcomes for the strategy and planning process.
Support the Head of Development in establishing innovative approaches to monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of Carbon Tracker’s research.
Required Experience
3 - 5 years’ experience in Charity / NGO Grant activities.
Good understanding of climate change and capital markets (ideally).
Excellent organisational skills.
Experience in managing projects.
Experience with funder / grant portals such as FLUXX, Cybergrants or Givingdata.
Highly proficient with MS Office suite.
Required Attributes

GBP £30,000 to £35,000 plus 7% contribution to pension
