The Director, Financial and Regulatory Reporting – EMEA will directly manage a team that is responsible for all aspects of EMEA legal entity reporting, including the statutory financial statements, regulatory financial filings, legal entity budgeting & forecasting, capital adequacy analysis, internal stress tests (ICARA) internal reporting (to management and to the boards), and related US and local GAAP accounting. This role is a subject matter expert in the regulatory and statutory accounting requirements relevant to their legal entities and has broad range of experience in general accounting and financial reporting process activities. They should understand the business and related accounting flows of the entities for which her/his team is responsible, fostering a control environment and providing quality, insightful reporting to the stakeholders. Provides statutory and regulatory guidance to stakeholders to ensure regulatory and financial impacts of new strategic initiatives are carefully understood, and support, as requested, for special projects and continuous improvement work efforts.
The Director is a member of the Global Controllers Group, actively participating in supporting the local delivery of the Global Controllers Group core responsibilities. This role will also coordinate the alignment of those T. Rowe Price Group’s Global Finance functions that reside in region to ensure efficient business delivery and to serve as the point of escalation and key business partner and advisor to senior regional leaders. The role will also represent T. Rowe Price’s Global Finance organization on EMEA-based projects and initiatives, as necessary.
This position is a UK FCA regulated role and is in scope of the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) as a Senior Manger Function SMF2.
Role responsibilities:
- Leads and provides guidance to ensure the team is identifying, reporting, and escalating risks, financial trends, or recurring issues related to the EMEA legal entities. Partnering with all necessary parties and technical teams to identify potential solutions, and communicate recommendations to senior management, as appropriate.
- Review and opine on the completeness and accuracy of TRPIL budget and forecast – partnering with Global FP&A to understand key assumptions and initiatives. Review monthly legal entity forecast and actual variances and capital adequacy analysis ensuring that meaningful, insightful analysis on different aspects of the legal entity financials is timely communicated. Uses excellent communication skills to convey highly complex financial data, business process, and business outcomes to stakeholders. Maintains relationships with senior management, the internal Board of Directors, business units, and regulators to ensure their questions are answered and needs are met.
- Validates and/or challenges analyses submitted by finance teams which are used in or impact legal entity and/or Regulatory Reporting. Collaborates with Global Tax Team to understand application and impact of ongoing TRPIL tax compliance and tax strategy on the balance sheet and profitability of EMEA subsidiaries. Works with the Technical accounting team where necessary to ensure compliance with relevant US GAAP, or other GAAP guidance.
- Partners with senior leadership across the relevant functions to ensure they understand the regulatory, profitability, and capital adequacy impacts strategic initiatives, organization changes, new products and new proposed accounting/regulatory policy and processes have on EMEA-based legal entities. Provides statutory and regulatory guidance and input to stakeholders and participates as a SME, as requested, for special projects.
- Leads with support from the team the implementation of accounting, and transaction process policies and procedures, which provide effective financial planning, accounting, and reporting of financial information, and authorizing the recording of accounting entries to financial systems. Applies a depth of knowledge from the completion of multiple assignments across lines of business, legal entities, and geographies to manage the interaction of legal entity, regulatory, and cross-country requirements.
- Leads and/or serves as a finance SME for regulatory change initiatives and examinations impacting EMEA-based legal entities. Activities include designing and leading the implementation of new or revised reporting, accounting, and accounting process policies, procedures, and reports, which provide effective financial planning, accounting, and reporting of financial information, and authorizing the recording of accounting entries to financial systems. Provides input and insight through the working teams for associates key deliverables while keeping Senior Management informed.
- Oversees the management of EMEA based Global audits and coaches EMEA financial reporting team in managing independent audits. Works with Global Corporate Controller on topical matters and issues as they arise.
- Manage a team of financial reporting SMEs aligned to the EMEA legal entities, including developing and motivating the and ensuring they have the required skills and competencies to effectively execute the responsibilities of the team along with multi-GAAP knowledge.
- Works closely with Global Finance leaders to build and maintain an effective matrix organization balancing process with customer responsiveness with an eye on associate development. Develop a perspective on Global Finance organization resourcing needs and capabilities across the and share them back with the respective functional leaders; be a partner to them as they continue to evaluate additional presence in region.
- Provides guidance on the implementation of financial system modifications to comply with revised reporting, accounting, and accounting process policies, procedures, and more substantial regulatory changes. Oversees the development of reporting standards and best practices including but not limited to process simplification, automation, and dynamic reporting.
