QA Engineer - Hardware/Software

Job Summary
We are on the lookout for a talented QA Engineer to join our expanding team. As a QA Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of industry-leading hardware and softwarenproducts. While manual testing is a primary focus, we also leverage automated testing. This role demands excellent time management, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the project leader and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assurance testing of new hardware and software products and software versions before release.
- Investigate fault reports, reproduce issues, identify bugs, and thoroughly document them in our defect-tracking system.
- Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
- Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using Squish.
- Liaise with internal teams (developers, product managers) to identify system requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance our testing methodology and improve the efficiency and quality of our QA processes.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent.
- You must have a background/good understanding of hardware and electronics.
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Methodical approach with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong computing skills and an aptitude for learning advanced software.
- Analytical skills, including the ability to understand and reason about complex information.
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written English.
- Excellent time management, including the ability to prioritize conflicting tasks appropriately.
- Ability to work independently under guidance.
Desirable Extras
- Technical experience working with lighting or AV control products.
- Familiarity with video standards and technologies.
- Coding experience with HTML, JavaScript, and/or Lua.
- Familiarity with the Squish automated GUI testing system from froglogic.
- Proven work experience in software quality assurance.
- Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing.
