Job description

Patriotic Millionaires UK is a non-profit organisation addressing the destabilising impact of economic inequality. We represent a network of UK millionaires using the unique voice of wealth to fight inequality and advocate for progressive tax reform.

Since our founding in January 2021, we have worked with others in the sector to build momentum and make significant inroads to get tax and extreme wealth onto the political agenda. We work collaboratively across the tax justice and progressive economy sectors, both in the UK and globally.

We believe that our work can lead to better economic balance and sustainability and a fundamentally more equal society.

The Head of Advocacy will increase the support for action on extreme wealth and taxation in Westminster and in other relevant political fora. They will establish and build relationships across both houses of parliament and all political parties for PMUK, working alongside the Executive Director, partners, and PMUK members. They will deliver parliamentary events and support with media related to these events. They will help develop policy recommendations to support our influencing work in the UK and work to build an advocacy programme for PMUK members. The Head of Advocacy will also contribute to the delivery of some international influencing work pertaining to the same mission and agenda. The Head of Advocacy will work closely with the ED for sign off and agreement on the development of the work.

  • Plan and execute strategic advocacy around key moments in the political calendar, such as the Spring and Autumn Statements.

  • Work with key contacts within major political parties, with economists and think tanks to influence for political adoption of policies that support a progressive and inclusive economy.

International advocacy work

  • Support Patriotic Millionaires’ advocacy work around major international events such as Davos, UNGA, and the G20. Create and build strong working relationships with influential activists, political representatives, economists, and ultra-wealthy individuals in the global tax justice space.

  • Support ED in their work to convene an international wealth tax alliance of organisations committed to progressive wealth tax reform globally.

Building advocacy capacity within the membership

  • Lead and chair a PMUK members’ Advocacy Committee to leverage members’ networks and expertise in our political influencing work.

  • Create briefings and other supportive materials for PMUK members. These may include key message documents for members around key moments, such as Davos or budget week, as well as statistics or speaking notes for individual members’ public speaking engagements.
