JOB TITLE:Head of Cards Modernisation Lab
SALARY:£101,932+
LOCATION(S): Chester
HOURS:Full time
WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our hub locations.
About this opportunity
The Head of Cards Modernisation Lab is an exciting opportunity to lead transformative initiatives within our Cards business. Reporting to the Cards Business Platform Lead & Modernisation Director, this role is pivotal in driving forward our modernisation efforts to ensure we remain at the forefront of innovation in the financial industry.
You'll play a key role in spearheading modernisation work across the Cards Business. Applying your expertise in new technologies and industry trends, you'll lead a dedicated team passionate about driving innovation, efficiency, and customer-centric solutions.
Situated within our Credit Cards team, our purpose is to provide customers with flexible credit card solutions that meet their short and long-term needs, to incentivise positive financial behaviour and to help customers experiencing persistent debt regain financial stability.
In this opportunity, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Change Management: Designing, developing, and delivering an organisational change management strategy that achieves desired outcomes. Takes responsibility for fulfilling business plans for a significant functional business area by effectively leading a large team. Explores how market and industry changes will influence and challenge a significant function or business unit / small business.
  • Product delivery: The end-to-end delivery of a holistic product, project or service by ensuring that the lab and teams are working on solving the right problems. This is achieved by building collaborative, empowered teams, nurturing them to take ownership of the relevant outcomes. As well as stimulating innovation and mitigating risk by encouraging data driven test and learn activities.
  • Customer Needs Strategy: Implementing the strategy for a large part of the organisation, while possibly leading major strategic bids. Builds a committed leadership team for their own area or function and holds overall responsibility for growing the capabilities of a large or diverse workforce through investment in own and others’ training and development.
  • Product Development: Designing, developing, and delivering the strategic plan for product development for a significant area of the business. Monitors and manages a wide range of activities of a significant team ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by liaising with all internal risk management functions while supporting the development and implementation of the organisation's compliance policy.
  • Risk Management: Delivering our risk management and/or control policies and procedures. Develops strategic solutions to long-term business needs by anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities.

About you!
We're seeking a dynamic individual proficient in modern data architectures, particularly cloud-based and machine-learning infrastructure, to fill the role. Familiarity with the intricacies of the Cards business, spanning eligibility, digital, credit risk, marketing, and schemes, would be advantageous. You'll show strength in leading third-party product providers and possess the savvy to craft and lead comprehensive business transformation. This entails not only navigating change but also orchestrating a complete rewiring of the end-to-end on a new technological framework. Blend of product manager and product owner expertise is required, alongside the ability to navigate complex change across diverse products, platforms, and geographies as well as being able to possess a clear vision for improving both customer and commercial outcomes.
