South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) has an exciting opportunity to appoint a new Head of Finance and Corporate Services, you will be responsible for managing the financial services functions for our organisation. Enabling delivery on our National Park Purposes and Duty your expertise will be crucial in informing our financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and optimising resource allocation. In addition, you will lead, manage, and develop small teams of professional staff supporting Data Protection, HR, Facilities, IT, and Procurement.
Whilst the majority of our funding for core services is through DEFRA grants, we have set-up a Trust and Trading Company to secure funding from other sources to enable us to achieve our longer-term goals for the Park. Seven Sisters County Park is our first venture under the Trading Company and this role manages its accounts.
With the ability to work to tight deadlines you will provide help and advice to colleagues producing varying financial information required to support project work, such as bids for external funding and green finance. An integral part of this wide-ranging role is understanding our budget process, providing support and advice to our Senior Management Team and Members, including presenting data at various workshops.
The majority of our day-to-day financial support, including payroll services and the S151Officer role is provided through an SLA with a local authority, which you will monitor and manage.
