My client is currently recruiting for a Deputy Finance Director / Head of Finance to join their charity in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. They offer a large amount of hybrid working which is worth taking into consideration with this role.
This position will lead the day to day running of the finance team that handles finance for the whole of the charity, ensuring that the team operate effectively and efficiently across all areas, developing them to ensure that they provide the best possible support to stakeholders, providing high quality, on time and accurate financial outputs. Identify opportunities for improvement in financial performance that maximise income and cashflow and optimise costs and expenses. Ensuring a high-quality finance business partnering service is delivered that builds strong relationship with all stakeholders and ensures optimal financial decisions are made through providing impactful financial insight and understanding. Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of realistic but stretching budgets and forecasts that have business buy-in and are produced on a timely basis, from setting of targets through to presentation to the leadership team. Lead on key business cases that ensure the development of the organisation and the furthering of our strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation, and at every level, to ensure the financial performance of the organisation is understood and optimised.
• Identify and champion opportunities to improve financial performance that drives income and cost efficiency.
• Set the direction for, and lead by example, the approach to finance business partnering, building up strong relationships with key stakeholders and providing insightful financial analysis and information.
• Ensure the team produce thorough, impactful and insightful financial reporting that meets the needs of the business, including overall responsibility for the production and presentation of timely, robust and accurate management accounts. Similarly ensure there is appropriate dashboard and KPI reporting available so that financial performance is understood and in particular ensure there is visibility of overall P&L, regional and service P&L, Balance sheet, Cashflow, Capex, investment and project performance.
• Lead on the timely production and presentation of a realistic but stretching annual budget and produce similarly robust reforecasts as needed by the organisation.
• Ensure investments are maximised through periodic review and reporting to give the best possible return to the organisation.
• Take overall ownership of procurement activities for the organisation, delivering cost savings and value for money for the charity, reviewing and renegotiating contracts where needed. Similarly, taking overall oversight of fleet management and CSS office management which also sits with the procurement team.
Requirements
• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
• Strong commercial acumen, with good accounting knowledge, business analysis skills and ability to review financial information to identify anomalies and opportunities
• Ability to operate both strategically and tactically with a good attention to detail and the ability to forward plan, where needed
