A little bit about what we are looking for...
The role is about risk mitigation and management to protect the organisation and it ensure our residents and colleague safety. The role requires an effective matrix management approach to deliver innovative solutions with strong collaboration across all key stakeholders, internally and externally, as well as developing and implementing long-term strategies for improvement.
This is a good mixture of hands on and strategic. It is going to be a challenging role and this person will need to be willing to roll their sleeves up and get into our communities and work with team but also be credible as a leader and provide that direction and planning for the overall Health and safety for PA.
We are happy to offer hybrid working with this role; You will be required to be in the office for around 2/3 days per week with the rest being from home, however please bear in mind we may need you to be in the office more within your probation and training. It's important to us that you feel fully ready and confident in the role before working from home. Of course if you'd prefer to be in the office more, then that is completely fine with us too!
Your responsibilities (but not limited to)...
- To develop and implement PA’s Health & Safety Strategy across the business, by working, working with Senior Management Team to develop and deliver the Health & Safety strategy.
- To be the responsible person for all Health & Safety matters at PA Housing
- Represent the Company as safety expert with relevant stakeholders
- Identify and define company annual safety objectives and monitor deliver through each year
- Monitoring and reviewing Health & Safety trends to identify areas of improvement
- Define and drive a safety culture across all levels of the business
- Working with the Asset Management Team, manage the Fire Risk Assessment Process for our homes and ensure appropriate actions are addressed.
- Support on incident and accident investigation when required and lessons learnt
- Update, monitor and review H&S policies and procedures, guidance, risk assessments and safe working practices in consultation with colleagues
- To ensure compliance with all Health & safety law
- Influencing, engaging and coaching key internal and external stake holders to drive change
- Identify and report safety performance trends, working with relevant internal stakeholders to develop improvement plans
- Maintain appropriate knowledge of the statutory frameworks which govern Health & Safety at work and to provide guidance on their practical application
- Provide clear concise H&S advice and practical solutions on matters that need to be addressed e.g. on existing and new risks, non-compliance and changes relating to legislation
- Maintain company safety risk register, identify emerging safety risks and develop mitigation plans to reduce risk levels
- Build relationships with key stakeholders within the organisation
- Liaise with Health & Safety Executive and other regulators when required
- Ensure organisational HSE legal compliance, regularly review legislation and update company policies as required

Our ideal candidate...
- NEBOSH Diploma
- Minimum, Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) and a relevant degree level qualification
- 5 years + Previous experience working in a strategic position within Health & Safety
- Experience of influencing senior stakeholders and Board Level
- Able to adapt communication style to all levels of the business and influence and engage accordingly
