St John’s College seeks to appoint an experienced Head of Human Resources to lead on all aspects of HR at the College. The post holder will provide HR services for academic and professional staff matters whilst ensuring a consistent and efficient approach to people management, supporting line managers and staff with generalist HR advice and lead on HR strategy and policy development. The position offers an exciting opportunity to combine strategic and operational HR responsibilities.
You will need to have a pragmatic approach and able to offer solution-oriented HR advice and show empathy and discretion in handling sensitive personnel matters and managing conflict situations. Previous experience in higher education is not essential, but it is important for the post holder to support the goals and ideals of the College’s role in fostering excellence in education and research in a vibrant and socially diverse community. Equality of opportunity and increasing the diversity of its staff profile are amongst the College’s aims, and the appointed person will need to show an interest in working with the President, the Fellow for Equality, and other senior staff to champion and pursue new initiatives in this area.
You will need to have a recognised HR qualification (ideally CIPD Level 7) or be able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience. Experience working with HR information systems is essential.
This is a full-time post, offered on the University’s grade 9, currently £52,815- £61,198 per annum (appointment will be made according to experience).
