An Oxford College is currently recruiting for a highly motivated and experienced Head of Maintenance to join their Estates team within the Oxford City Centre.
As Head of Maintenance, you will be responsible for coordination and management of the Maintenance Department and overseeing all maintenance activity across the College's estate. Manages work and services to ensure that its buildings, facilities, equipment and related resources are maintained to a high standard in compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation. The Head of Maintenance will report directly to the Director of Estates and will support them in delivering the College's core objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Estate Management
Maintain and improve College's built environment through judicious preventative maintenance and servicing.Provide effective management of buildings related health and safety, ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all HSE Approved Codes of Practice. Engage with the College's external health and safety advisors to satisfy any actions resulting from their inspections.Robust management of the OS Ticket maintenance fault reporting system. Ensure that faults are dealt with promptly, are appropriately prioritised and all work is carried out efficiently. Monitor and promote good communication between the agent assigned to the work and the ticket owner.Safeguard compliance with the Accommodation Code of Practice through regular review and collaboration with the domestic service teams to address any issues as that arise.Monitor the College's energy systems, accurately track consumption, identify inefficient areas and make data driven decisions to reduce energy use and carbon emissions.To manage the annual general maintenance budget for the department ensuring expenditure remain within prescribed limits. This will require a close working relationship with the Director of Estates, Bursar, other College Officers and Committees with responsibility to discharge this expenditure.Leadership and Management
Directly line manage all Maintenance Department staff ensuring that work is equitably allocated. Promote a positive working environment and encourage strong customer focus and high standard of service provision.Ensure that staff are suitably trained to a level that enables all members of the team to confidently and effectively perform their allocated daily duties.Appropriately delegate responsibility for daily caretaking activities and routine logbook work. This will require working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor.Maintain and improve administrative processes to facilitate accurate record keeping and promote procedural visibility and understanding. A UK Driving License must be held and maintainedCarry out, as determined by operational demand, hands-on physical and skilled work of all types typically carried out by the Maintenance Department.Join the on-call out of hours rota equally with the other participating members of the Maintenance Team.Excellent knowledge of building maintenance processes and in particular building services including heating, hot water and plumbing, electrical services and building management systems, alarms and all types of detection systems.Salary offered is between £41k - £43k depending on experience, 30 days holiday, free lunch, excellent pension, overtime rates and one call rota expenses and reimbursements
