Streatham & Clapham High School (SCHS) seeks to appoint a dynamic, energetic and inspirational teacher to lead our thriving and highly successful Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department.
You will build on the excellent results achieved by the department, further consolidating our established reputation for MFL A-Level success. You will have overall responsibility for the professional leadership and management of the MFL department, ensuring the delivery of high standards of teaching and learning, that resources are used efficiently and effectively, and that the curriculum is managed and developed in accordance with school policy.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive teacher, with excellent subject knowledge and understanding. You will possess experience of teaching KS3-5, as well as experience of teaching at A-Level and GCSE in your subject. You will be able to teach French up to A-Level, and Spanish up to Key Stage 4.
The Department
The MFL department is made up of a team of four teachers and three language assistants. Co-curricular activities and competitions play an integral part in the MFL programme to develop a rounded and culturally rich approach to the fulfilments of pupils’ potential.
Sixth Form pupils have taken part in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office/British Council EU Mock Council where they employ their debating skills through French. Provision is made for the growing number of bilingual pupils, who actively choose our school, and preparation is also undertaken for Oxbridge and Russell Group candidates for Modern Language courses.
The department is justly proud to have won the international VocabExpress competition several times since 2012. We regularly attend conferences, lectures, theatre, and residential trips to Belgium, Spain, France and Italy.
