About Us:
The union represents over 120,000 academics, lecturers, trainers, instructors, researchers, managers, administrators, computer staff, librarians and postgraduates in universities, colleges, prisons, adult education and training organisations across the UK.
They also have members in the private sector, for example in private training agencies and language schools, as well as members working on a freelance basis. Students training to teach in post-school education also belong to union.
Head of Property & Facilities– The Role:
The client is seeking a Head of Property and Facilities. In this exciting role, based in their London NW1 Head Office, and reporting to the Head of Bargaining, Organising, Representation and Operations, your main duties will be:
- Managing the union’s properties and office facilities
- Ensuring a healthy and safe environment is provided in all offices
- Responsibility for the management and oversight of the operation of offices services in the functions covered by the post
- Overall responsibility for security within the union’s Head Office and, where relevant, its regional/devolved nation offices as required
- Responsibility for the purchasing and leasing of equipment and services
Head of Property & Facilities– You:
The role would suit someone with experience of a similar working environment and/or understanding of working for a trade union or other not-for-profit organisation. You will also have:
- IWFM Level 4 Diploma or higher (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in relation to the responsibilities of an employer and owner/occupier of premises
- Experience of negotiating with contractors and suppliers in an office context
- An ability to lead and develop individuals and teams
- Excellent communications skills
- An ability and willingness to work outside of the normal working week
