We are a leading manufacturer in the uPVC industry, committed to delivering high-quality products while prioritising the safety and well-being of our employees. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a diligent and proactive Health and Safety Assistant to join our team.
As a Health and Safety Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Group Health & Safety Manager in ensuring the company's compliance with Health and Safety legislation. We are seeking a hands-on, self-motivated individual with a commercial mindset, capable of working autonomously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and assistance on Health and Safety matters, working independently in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
- Develop strong working relationships with all levels of the workforce and external stakeholders to foster a positive Health and Safety culture.
- Coordinate the company's risk assessment program, advising management on necessary control measures, and contribute to the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Administer the company's accident reporting and investigating procedures, assisting in accident investigations and RIDDOR 2013 reporting.
- Identify Health and Safety training needs, provide or source training, and conduct H&S induction training for new employees.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative safety measures, conduct regular site safety audits.
- Support monthly H&S Committee meetings, addressing safety improvements.
- Keep records of audit findings, produce reports suggesting improvements, and assist in producing management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
- Stay up to date with new legislation, maintain a working knowledge of all HSE legislation, and help implement changes and new systems as they arise.
- Ensure the proper use of allocated and appropriate PPE.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Experience in an H&S role in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of accident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Logical thought process for problem-solving and procedure development.
- Must have achieved IOSH qualification.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in work.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to train others.
- Proactive approach, resilience, and adaptability.
- Willingness to undertake further training and implement learning into daily work.
