Health and Safety Officer(P01328) Starting salary £39,382pa with potential progression to £42,383pa on achieving designated skills and experience 37 hours per week (hybrid working)Our Health and Safety & Emergency Planning Team provides a wide-ranging advice and support service across all areas of our business, covering Health and Safety, emergency planning and business continuity.We require an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join the team, who will assist the Health and Safety and Emergency planning Manager as the council’s ‘competent person’ under the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999.  With a high level of technical expertise gained in a functionally diverse organisation, collaboration and excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as is your proven ability to influence change and develop practical and cost-effective solutions.A commitment to supporting the council’s emergency planning and response to incidents is also required, and you will be expected to play an active role when incidents occur, as well as in planning, training and exercising.You will be a confident and experienced professional, ideally holding a level 5 NEBOSH Safety Diploma or equivalent (and as a minimum a level 3 NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent) and with a commitment to your continuing professional development.  Frequently required to prioritise demands upon your time, you will possess excellent time management skills.  You will be used to dealing with all levels of employee, as well as senior management and elected Members and will have sound analytical and judgement forming skills.Public sector or local government experience would be advantageous. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.Closing date for applications is 8 May 2024.Assessments will be held on 14 May 2024.Interviews will be held on date to be confimed.
