Main duties of the job
To actively participate as a member of the nursing team and be responsible for contributing towards the smooth and efficient running of the service. Under supervision, assist the qualified nursing staff in giving individualised care to patients either within the Short Breaks Service or the School environment.
To actively develop knowledge, skills and competencies to fulfil the Band 3 Healthcare Assistant role at Chailey Clinical Services within a determined timeframe.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To provide direct hands-on care to children/young people accessing the services provided by Chailey Clinical Services.
Participate as a member of the team, providing the highest standard of care. The post holder will not usually be expected to work unsupervised and will refer decisions relating to the childs/young persons care to a senior member of staff.
Provide assistance to nursing and senior staff, as required, reporting any change in the childs/young persons condition or any problem or hazards to the senior member of staff.
To assist the children/young people in those areas of daily living in which they are dependent. This can relate to; washing and dressing, meeting personal hygiene needs, assisting at mealtimes, lifting and handling.
To assist children and young people in play and other activities.
Undertake housekeeping tasks such as bed making, cooking, washing linen, cleaning and tidying of the building, including equipment and toys etc., in accordance with Trust/Service policy.
To be aware of the need to and to act accordingly, to protect children and young people at all times.
The post holder will be expected to undertake training and assessment for development into the Band 3 Healthcare Assistant role.
They will keep up to date with current practices/service developments and identify personal training and development needs through supervision.
