Flint House Police Rehabilitation is a registered Charity offering world class preventative and rehabilitative care for people in the police service. Every year we treat over 3,500 police officers. Located just outside Goring-on-Thames and set in 20 acres of ancient woodland, there are two main buildings on a single site – Flint House and Flint Fold.
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Health Care Assistantto join our Nursing team.

Hours of work:
37.5 hrs Monday to Friday - rota'd night shifts from 20.00 to 08.30 scheduled on Monday, Tues, Weds, Thurs nights (typically three nights a week for three weeks and four nights a week for one week) and very occasional ad hoc day shift.
No weekend or bank holiday working required.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supporting the Registered Nurses in welcoming new patients on admission day: giving out information, assisting patients with settling into their rooms or orientating themselves to Flint House.
- Carrying out a basic Nursing assessment obtaining baseline observations to ensure that the patient’s blood pressure, pulse and weight are within normal limits. As recommended by the clinical teams, to ensure treatment is appropriate and safe
- Recording clearly and in a timely manner the details of all patient interactions and patient care on the electronic notes system-‘FitNote’ in accordance with NMC professional standards
- Communicating with patients about urine or blood sugar test results, passing on relevant information between the patient and the registered nurse, using initiative but able to keep within boundaries of competency
- Responding to any physical needs of patients, working with, or in the absence of a Registered Nurse, administering first aid, dealing with medical emergencies, resuscitation, and assisting dependent patients to ensure patient safety throughout the period of treatment.
- Running the Relaxation classes as required, carrying out patient’s health checks including blood pressure, weight clinics and aromatherapy workshops and/or consultations.
- Ensuring that designated equipment in both the treatment room and patient bedrooms are cleaned weekly in line with the Flint House Police Rehabilitations infection control policy and procedures
Essential
- NVQ Health & Social Care 3 or equivalent with up to date clinical skills
- Experience of caring for adults in a variety of environments including hospitals and / or care homes
- Working knowledge of infection control policies and procedures
- Satisfactory DBS clearance
- Own transport is essential due to our location
Desirable
- Background in person centred care planning and confidence to work autonomously within their competencies
- Working knowledge of Data Protection regulations and confidentiality requirements surrounding any sensitive personal data
- Competent in the use of computers Microsoft Outlook together with previous experience of having used computerised medical note systems.
- Interest and enthusiasm for health promotion and previous experience of having run health education classes together with an understanding of promoting mental health, mindfulness and relaxation practices.
