SalaryThe successful candidate will work closely with the Urology Consultants, Clinic Nurse Specialists and other health care professionals.
Training will be provided to enable the successful candidate to support the Doctors and Nurses in our Urology clinics and procedure rooms. This post requires an active/energetic person to work in a fast-paced environment, enabling flow of patients through the department. The role involves preparation of equipment as well as interaction with patients and the multi-disciplinary team.
This post is designed to provide support to the trained nurse in the delivery of patient care and in the effective and efficient preparation of patient areas and equipment.
You will need good interpersonal skills, enjoy working with the public, have patience and a sympathetic manner, with a flexible approach to work and the ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team.

Please refer to the attached Job Description for further details, some of your main responsibilities will be:
1. To help in the delivery of basic patient care under direct supervision of a trained nurse.
2. To develop specific skills as requested by your Charge Nurse and carry them out as per agreed policies and standards.
3. To restock equipment, disposables/consumables in preparation for patients.
4. To be aware of Moving and Handling procedures
5. To report all accidents and serious incidents to the Charge Nurse.
6. Be aware of Emergency procedures such as fire, major incident, bomb alert, cardiopulmonary arrest and security.
7. To comply with the Unit and Trust policies.
8. To respect and maintain the rights, dignity and confidentiality of patients.
9. To take reasonable steps to ensure the safekeeping of patients’ property in accordance with Hospital policy.
10. To develop effective channels of communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives.
11. To provide support to relatives and families of patients with empathy.
12. To maintain own development as guided by Charge Nurse and the appraisal process.
13. To assist with ordering of supplies and appropriately storing supplies on the unit including Pharmacy orders.
14. Assume some of the housekeeper role, particularly those related to direct patient care, e.g. ordering of patients’ meals, damp dusting in patient areas etc.
15. Undertake care and cleaning of any equipment as necessary and as directed by the Charge Nurse.
16. Undertake other duties as directed by the trained nurse, such as the delivery and collecting of CSSD items and re-assembled them when required.
