Job description

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Cambridgeshire Youth Justice Service as part of the High-Risk and Intensive Supervision and Surveillance (ISS) Team. This is a key role in our multi-disciplinary service and primarily you will be expected to engage, assess, and work directly and creatively with children and young people to prevent and reduce offending amongst young people who are at risk of custody. Working closely with YJS Officers and members of the High-Risk Team to support the assessment, intervention planning, review, and risk management processes.

As a designated Officer within the ISS/High Risk team, the post holder will contribute to the duties of the team by organising, providing, participating, and coordinating non-therapeutic activities as well as education packages, training, and employment for the young people on the program, and with those assessed as High Risk. The post holder will contribute to the surveillance of the young people by tracking their whereabouts and exploring the reasons for any non-compliance.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who is Child First in their approach and who is keen to work collaboratively with young people, helping to support changes and solutions in difficult and often complex situations. The role can be fast paced and is ideally suited to someone with excellent communication skills, who has experience in engaging young people positively and effectively and who has the necessary skills and flexibility to meet competing demands within agreed timescales.

This is a permanent county wide post for 30 hours per week. Office location to be discussed and decided alongside successful candidate. The ability to travel county wide and to be willing to transport young people is essential. This post will include evening and weekend work when required and the participation in an on-call rota system.

If you are interested in this post, please apply online ensuring you detail how you meet the person specification.

Interviews will take place on either Monday June 3rd or Wednesday June 5th, at Fawcett House, Trumpington, Cambridge, CB2 9NL.

For informal enquiries please contact Heidi Kailipaka on 07775824060 or email heidi.kailipaka@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
