The Major Incident Room within CTPSE Investigations plays a central role in in supporting the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and the team of investigators in managing and progressing major and complex terrorist and national security investigations.
Responsibilities of the HOLMES Office Manager include the supervision of all aspects of CT HOLMES, alongside the management and development of the MIR staff. The role also encompasses the presentation of performance data at regional and national meetings, as well as representing CTPSE at national working groups, and identifying and implementing best practice for ways of working.
We welcome applications from staff with current role-related experience as a supervisor/manager within an MIR, or with substantial detective experience and a working knowledge of HOLMES, the MIR, MIRSAP and CPIA. The applicant will also need to demonstrate that they have excellent communication and leadership skills and are motivated to support the Investigation Team in this exciting and unique area of policing.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the South-East region and occasionally throughout the UK.

Required knowledge/skills
Essential
- Substantial Detective experience or current role-related experience as an supervisor/manager within an MIR, excellent understanding of MIRSAP, Murder Investigation Manual (MIM), National Intelligence Model (NIM), Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA), case management, all other MIR roles.
- Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills. Experience of negotiating and persuading. Ability to deliver presentations, attend and engage in briefings and meetings within a police and partnership environment.
- Experience of successfully managing and developing people with clear accountability for their performance. Evidence of problem solving.
- Ability to travel across the region and nationally as required and at short notice.
- Exposure to HOLMES 2 in a variety of roles. Willingness and ability to learn new systems as technology develops, e.g. Altia.
- Experience of managing and coordinating own and others’ workloads, with minimum supervision, prioritising and meeting tight deadlines. Flexible approach to working hours. Able to evidence self motivation and use of own initiative.
Desirable
- Force IT system knowledge.
- Good legislative knowledge e.g. European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Regulation Of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), Data Protection, Discrimination, etc, and knowledge of force management policies. Evidence of interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
