A bit about the role...

The Cyber team are responsible for the Cyber Security, Defence and Resilience of Homes England. We accomplish this through the use of defensive security tools, monitoring of current attacks and risk analysis and advanced threat modelling to ensure we have the best mitigations in place to defend us from attack.

The Homes England Cyber Team are linked to and work closely with other Cyber Professionals within DLUHC, the wider Government Security Group and are supported by the National Cyber Security Centre. The role of a Cyber Security Associate on a daily basis is to respond to security incidents that are submitted to Cyber or have been escalated from our external 3rd party Security Operations Centre. Using Mitre Att&ck with other threat and risk modelling techniques the incidents will be categorised and reacted to and closed or the mitigation developed, tested and applied.

An important part of the Cyber responsibilities is the assessment and assurance approval of Homes England 3rd party suppliers to ensure that they do not pose a threat to Homes England, or any data stored within their systems. The Cyber security Team works closely with the Data Protection Officer and Operational Risk team to share context and contextual information to perform and justify these assessments.

Cyber Security is an ever-evolving threat that requires a continuously changing response, this requires us all to continually identify, research, and learn new attack techniques to counteract them. Teamwork is vital between all our colleagues within Cyber and the wider Digital Operations group to share knowledge, techniques, and training to accomplish the common goals of Cyber defence.
