Housing and Respiratory Illness Project Officer
Grade 7, £35,745 up to £40,221 per annum pro rata plus an essential car user allowance of £850 per annum
37 hours per week, 2-year fixed term contract
The seven districts of Leicestershire working together through the Lightbulb Partnership have identified a need for a pilot Housing and Respiratory Project to be delivered across the County. The project will by working with housing providers, enforcement teams and hospitals in Leicestershire to implement a consistent proactive approach to identify damp and mould hazards within households, and ensure corrective action is taken by providers.
The project will also help to develop links and pathways for service users to close any gaps in service delivery with Housing and primary/secondary care. This in turn will lead to more cohesive services which will assist in the prevention of Respiratory Illnesses by establishing clear referral pathways and training for professionals.
The lasting legacy of the project will be greater links between public bodies and robust processes that help to reduce the likelihood of serious Respiratory Illnesses developing or being worsened by conditions within the home.
What you will do:
- Support clients with housing assistance applications, providing advice and completing paperwork.
- Develop and deliver training programs for Housing and health services on the impact of adverse housing on health.
- Engage with internal and external forums, working groups, and partner organisations.
- Help with the preparation of reports and presentations for various audiences, including cabinet, scrutiny and corporate groups.
- Develop and implement strategies to address the causal factors of damp and mould, such as fuel poverty and cost-of-living challenges.
- Ensure effective remedial actions are taken and build a legacy of knowledge through frontline staff training.
- Undertake site visits with front line staff, to better understand current practices to better develop training and recommendations.

We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office based, home and remote working available when suitable. The contractual base will be office based with agreed flexibility to work from home or at remote working locations in the borough
