Are you a hardworking and diligent Housing Officer with a great knowledge and understanding of tenancy management?
Is so, BRC are working in partnership with a Local Authority who are recruiting for a Housing Officer. They are looking for someone to effectively manage a patch of properties, ensuring that the homes have legal tenants and investigating non-occupation. As a Housing Officer, you will play a vital part in delivering affordable accommodation by acting as a key liaison to tenants, providing them with their rights and responsibilities, participating in community events and monitoring neighbourhoods.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the properties and tenants within the designated patch. The focus of the role is to ensure that tenants are responsible for and able to pay rent, negotiating affordable and sustainable repayment plans to those in debt, and actioning cases of tenancy fraud. Constant communication with the tenants is necessary to manage rent accounts by supporting ongoing rent and debt recovery. The candidate will also have to effectively liaise with internal services and external agencies to appropriately manage the patch.
To be successful in this position, you will need a strong knowledge and understanding of tenancy management and enforcement. You will have experience of debt and income recovery. A sound understanding of landlord and tenant legislation is required. Candidates with excellent communication, negotiating skills, and ability to deal with aggravated situations are desired.
