Neway is seeking a Housing Standards Officer to join our client based with Maidstone Borough Council.
This role is starting asap, working 36 hours a week, initially for a 6 month contract.
Pay Rate is £17.70 p/h PAYE (equivalent to £21.75 umbrella)
"The role of a Housing Standards Officer is to work within a team to ensure the delivery of the Council’s statutory responsibilities for improving conditions and standards of management of private sector housing for residents of Maidstone, protecting their health, safety and well-being.
This role will deal with the full range of matters affecting Housing Standards, including:
• Assisting the delivery of the Disabled Facilities Grant programme and other grant schemes to ensure those most in need of assistance through home improvements, get the help they need.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Able to prepare complex and intricate tender and project documentation, specifications, contracts and construction cost analysis
Detailed knowledge of construction technology, building regulations, building science, building services, relevant British Standards, relevant codes of practice and the building trade to ensure any actions taken are in accordance with nationally accepted standards, practice and ideals.
Experience of working in a Housing Standards enforcement team or construction/housing maintenance or at surveyor level or appropriate experience.
A current driving licence and access to a car, or have access to appropriate means of travel to various locations.
Experience of assisting people to obtain Disabled Facilities Grants
