Job description

Our client is the central office responsible for managing 16 grant-giving trusts founded by three generations of a renowned family, along with associated charities and companies. The trusts work in many fields, including scientific research, the arts, heritage, social inclusion, the environment, disability, education, and development in Africa. We are delighted to be recruiting an HR Administrator to play a vital role in supporting the People Team. As a key member, you help to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department and its related procedures and alongside varied administrative tasks, you will be the first point of contact for employee queries and maintain accurate records and manage databases.

You will also be responsible for assisting with recruitment procedures and ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for new team members. Active participation in learning and development initiatives, such as assisting in the planning and sourcing of training courses and supporting the implementing of the Learning and Development Framework, will be part of your dynamic role. Additionally, you will provide crucial payroll support, facilitate internal communication, organise events, and offer project support as required. A proactive approach to engaging with stakeholders, a commitment to legal and data protection compliance, and a dedication to promoting diversity and equality in the workplace are fundamental to this role. You must embrace continuous professional development and be flexible in carrying out associated duties within the broader scope of the position.

The ideal candidate will be eager to learn on the job, requiring no formal qualifications but demonstrating a quick grasp of IT/digital systems, particularly MS Office. You should have experience in working with diverse groups across different environments, effective time management skills, and the ability to enhance processes through technology. Meticulous attention to detail in administrative tasks, strong organizational and multitasking abilities, and a proactive mindset are essential.

You must have experience in handling sensitive information, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills for supporting individuals at all levels, which will contribute to your success in this role. Flexibility, adaptability to changing priorities, and being a team player committed to building robust working relationships are also critical. You must exercise discretion and judgment, knowing when to escalate matters appropriately, with a balanced and practical mindset. The successful candidate will be able to take initiative, learn independently, and align with the organisation's goals.
