Our Opportunity
We currently have a 12 month Fixed-Term opportunity for a HR Generalist to join our London based team, with a particular leaning towards Employee Relations. You will be joining a strong HR team who serve our diverse workforce across the country. The post holder will work collaboratively with the GTS HR team, to deliver an exceptional HR service to our employees, focusing on providing consistent guidance and advice and helping to drive our people agenda to support the overall success of GTS.
This will be a hybrid role, with a minimum requirement of 2 days per week in one of our London based offices (mainly St Katherine’s Dock, however Waterloo, Beckton and Stratford should also be used) and up to 25% of your time spent travelling (other offices outside of London, conferences etc). You will also be required to work night shift at times to serve our population of night shift team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
General HR
  • Support SHRBPs/Talent Partners across full employee life cycle
  • Advise, coach, challenge and support managers/employees in these respective areas
  • Support SHRBPs in the delivery of transformational change
  • Identify patterns/trends in casework that may require interventions and/or review/changes to policies/procedure
ER
  • Provide general ER advice and guidance to employees and managers
  • Manage cases across full ER Spectrum including:
    • Life events (Family Leave/Sabbatical/Special Leave/Flexible Working Request)
    • Performance management/probations
    • Sickness management
    • Attendance management
    • Disciplinary and Grievance (investigations, hearings and appeals)
    • Employment Tribunals/ACAS Early Conciliation (escalation to SHRBP/HRD as necessary)
    • Union experience
  • Support implementation of change & transformation programmes i.e. redundancy, restructuring, relocation, changes to T&C’s, TUPE, M&A(what is M&A?)
Human skills
  • Ability to handle change
  • Flexible and adaptable to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Approachable and able to build strong relationships quickly
  • Highly professional
  • Able to deal with complex issues in emotive scenarios
  • Conviction and courage to deliver sometimes difficult messaging
Technical skills
  • Proven hands-on experience in an HR role, with demonstrable focus on ER
  • History of successfully handling ER cases
  • Technical knowledge of ER processes such as redundancy, disciplinary, Occupational Health
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment
What to expect
We aim to complete a single stage interview process, with the interview held in-person at our St Katherine’s Dock office. We will host a competency-based interview, with a focus on technical and behavioural. This will be followed by a brief, informal meet and greet with our HR Director.
