HSE Apprentice
Description
Provides support on health and safety to site and field personnel under the guidance of the site HSE leader. Assists in the review and sustainability of Health & Safety Management Systems.
Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE)
Plan
Works to gain basic understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations.
Works to gain basic understanding of local health and safety policies and procedures.
Works to gain basic understanding of Emergency Response processes.
Support the closure of gaps in compliance with local regulatory health and safety requirements.
Build an understanding of HSE culture.
Maintain confidentiality and appropriate recordkeeping standards in line with corporate data protection and retention requirements.
Do
Stop work and immediately report any major injury hazards.
Assist in the reporting any work-related injury, illness, incident or hazard through internal reporting processes.
Support the implementation and maintenance of hazard identification, incident investigation and risk assessment processes.
Communicate effectively to create safety awareness.
Check
Participate in health and safety inspection and audit programs.
Gather data for the analysis of safety-related trends.
Act
Support health, safety and wellness initiatives.
Assists in the maintenance of local health and safety policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Teamwork
Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.
Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements.

Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.
Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards through practical application within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification.
Qualifications:
Training provided within the role, no experience required.
Support risk assessment activities within the team.
Support the maintenance of ISO 14001 / 45001 accreditation recordsand support external/internal audits.
Assist with the investigation of incidents and track corrective actions.
Reporting of HSE data as required.
Maintain site HSE system and databases (COSHH, Enablon,incident data, 3E etc.)
Support the development of HSE training materials.
Attend additional DBU sites and Field locations as required.
Attend apprentice training program and complete assigned coursework as required.
