The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in UK's Building Services sector. Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.
We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to integrate a HSE Manager to support our growing teams.
Role:
The HSE Manager will support the business with the implementation of HSE processes and initiatives.
Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment and adherence to related statutory duties as well as the furthering of best practice standards.
- To use their knowledge and skills to promote a positive health and safety culture in the workplace and ensure legal compliance.
- To work proactively with Directors and Managers to establish and maintain efficient & safe systems of work and a safe environment.
- Provide support and guidance on HSE matters throughout the company.
- Inspire, motivate, and advise company personnel, contractors, and suppliers on HSE matters.
- To develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement and continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with the project management teams to support and advise on all site related HSE matters.
- Preparing Construction Phase H&S Plans and associated site RAMS.
- Carrying out site audits and inspections and managing a programme of corrective/preventative actions for continuous improvement.
- Reviewing Asbestos surveys to highlight any areas of concern.
- Introducing new techniques for improving health, safety and welfare to prevent accidents and implement best practices.
- Ensuring all documentation relating to health and Safety & environmental are kept up to date and accurate.
- To carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and record the findings and implement changes.
- Ensuring the company meets its health surveillance obligations, in line with legislation and industry regulations and co-ordinating screening.
- Highlighting areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
- Providing expert health and safety advice and knowledge to the business.
- Undertaking safety briefings, lessons learnt and distributing other safety related communications.
- Managing the day-to-day health and safety matters on site.
- Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensuring the business has systems, policies and practices in place to meet legal compliance.
- Managing and developing a team of 7 direct reports.
- Maintaining own level of knowledge and competency in relation to SHE Management and responsibilities including appropriate qualifications and professional membership
- Manage all environmental issues, waste management etc.
- CDM Compliance.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
- Previous sector experience as a HSE Manager / Safety professional.
- Good up to date knowledge of ISO 45001.
- Experience of reporting and liaising with relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrable evidence of driving and improving change.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- Eye for detail and a results driven approach.
- Ability to work under pressure and to defined deadlines.
- Driven, confident and enthusiastic in your approach.
- Decisive and able to offer practical and flexible solutions to problems.
- Able to lead and be hand on.
- Not afraid to challenge others, but in the right way.
- Able to develop strong working relationships with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement across the company.
Desired Criteria:
- Level 5/6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
- Chartered IOSH Membership or working toward.
